Kali colored the eve –Mudiyettu Performed at IFFK

The goddess Kali was all in her wrath; her apparition was fear inducing with blood filled eyes and annihilating gestures .Mudiyettu depicts the symbolic form of Goddess Kali in anger and she is out to finish the demon Darika. With all its fearsome beauty and vibrating back drop the Mudiyettu performance was all in its ethereal heights at  IFFK.
The traditional music gave proper accompaniment which suited the story. Varanatt Narayana Kurup Aasan and his team lived their lives to perform the  folk tale in all its grandeur .Finely and strikingly hued large kolam (tradirtional drawings) and lamps added the much needed support for the entire show.

In 2010 , Mudiyettu was inscribed in the UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and becomes the second art form from Kerala after Koodiyattam.
