Adoor Crafted characters

Adoor cinemas were addressed and interpreted at length in Iffk’s seminar which marked the 50th year Adoor Gopalakrishnan in Cinema.The timelessness of his charecters, the shifting imageries of their minds, and the misty shadows of the character’s inner layers –all were reinterpreted again only to give the audience a new dimension again.

“Subjectivity is the key notion Adoor Gopalakrishnan film “, said film researcher M K Raghavendra while giving the keynote address. Raghavendra observed that unlike popular Indian films, Adoor movies give room for the viewer to interpret... Mehelli Modi , detailed  how the movies crafted from a culture ,Adoor eloquently spoke  every other culture .”Simplicity may be considered as the key used by Adoor in uncovering the layers of his films”, he said. The seminar which  discussed the contribution of Adoor’s work to World Cinema , had J Geetha as the moderator ,and  Uma De Cunha, Mehelli Modi ,Saibal Chatterji,Dr Gopinath and Meena T Piillai as the panelists.
